(Please read the descriptions of the scholarships before completing the attached scholarship application.  All sections may not be required for every scholarship.  Make sure to complete all sections necessary for each scholarship applied for.)

RAMEF/NRAEF CO-BRANDED SCHOLARSHIP: Is presented by the Restaurant Association of Maryland Education Foundation (RAMEF) and the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation (NRAEF).  Scholarships are awarded on a competitive basis to a graduating high school senior in Maryland. *Note – you cannot receive the Co-Branded scholarship and another NRAEF scholarship in the same year with the exception of the ProStart National Certificate of Achievement Scholarship.  ($500 - $4000 scholarship pool)  Scholarship Deadline: April 15, 2015

Eligibility Criteria: 
Must be a graduating senior in the State of Maryland
Must be pursuing hospitality related coursework
Interviews may be required of finalists
Complete Sections 1-8 for the Co-Branded Scholarship and complete Essay 1.


Letitia B. Carter Scholarship: Is presented by the Restaurant Association of Maryland Education Foundation in memory of former CEO of the Restaurant Association of Maryland.  This competitive scholarship is awarded to Maryland residents interested in pursuing hospitality-related coursework.  It is available to high school students and college students as well as high school, college or corporate instructors and current hospitality industry professionals. ($500 - $2000 scholarship pool)
Scholarship Deadline: April 15, 2015

Eligibility Criteria: 
Maryland resident
High school senior or college student 
High school, college or corporate instructor
Hospitality industry professional
Must be pursuing hospitality related coursework
Interviews may be required of finalists
A minimum cumulative unweighted grade point average of 3.0 (High School and College Students Only)
A minimum of 400 hours documented industry experience  (High School and College Students Only)
A minimum of 1500 hours documented industry experience (Instructors, Teachers and Industry Applicants only)
Complete Sections 1-8 for the Letitia B. Carter Scholarship and complete Essay 2.


Marcia S. Harris Legacy Fund Scholarship: Is presented by the Restaurant Association of Maryland in memory of Marcia S. Harris former CEO of the Restaurant Association of Maryland for more than 20 years.  Marcia had a love for life and a love for the foodservice industry that stood out even in the largest crowds.  Her passion and dedication to promoting, protecting and improving the foodservice industry is what drove her day in and day out.  Applicants should also possess the qualities of passion and dedication and have a strong desire to improve the foodservice industry through the personal pursuit of professionalism.  ($500 - $2000 scholarship pool)

Maryland resident
High school senior 
College student
High school or post- secondary instructor who teaches culinary arts or hospitality management courses
Must be pursuing hospitality related coursework
Interviews may be required of finalists
Complete Sections 1-8 for the Marcia S. Harris Legacy Fund Scholarship and complete Essays 3 and 4.


Applebee’s/The Rose Group Hospitality Scholarship: Is presented by the Restaurant Association of Maryland Education Foundation on behalf of Applebee’s/The Rose Group, a long-time partner and supporting group of RAMEF. ($1100 scholarship)
Scholarship Deadline: April 15, 2015

Eligibility Criteria:
Maryland resident
Graduating high school senior
Pursuing hospitality related coursework
Minimum cumulative unweighted grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
Minimum of 150 hours of documented industry experience
Must have some community involvement
Interviews may be required of finalists
Complete Sections 1-8 for the Applebee’s/The Rose Group Hospitality Scholarship and complete Essay 5.


Eddie Dopkin’s First Course Award, Honoring Entrepreneurship in Hospitality: Is presented by the Restaurant Association of Maryland Education Foundation on behalf of the Dopkin Family.  Eddie was a longtime restaurant owner, caterer and entrepreneur in Baltimore. He owned Miss Shirley’s and The Classic Catering People as well as many other restaurants.    ($5000 scholarship)
Scholarship Deadline: February 14, 2015 and is only available to current students at Stratford University – Baltimore Campus.

Eligibility Requirements:
Maryland resident
Must be a current student at Stratford University – Baltimore Campus to apply for this scholarship
Complete Sections 1-8 for the Eddie Dopkin First Course Award, Honoring Entrepreneurship in Hospitality and complete Essays 6 and 7.
